Usually, the best technique for watering the poinsettia is to put the plant in your kitchen sink. Water the poinsettia plant slowly until water drips from the base of the pothole. This way, you know the soil is entirely wet. Allow excess water drain out by standing the plant in the sink for a while after watering.

Your poinsettia potted plant should be set inside a decorative pot covers. This way, leftover or trapped water even after draining inside the sink will drain in the pot cover when you place them back to their stand in your home. Or you can simply set your plant in a tray or plate.
